About this FAQ. I have held a Tevau plastic card since 2025 and use it as one of my everyday cards — for ATM cash, restaurant payments, Google Ads billing, and through Google Pay and Apple Pay. Every answer below is based on what I have actually done with the card.
The fee and limit figures come from Tevau’s official help centre, checked in August 2026. Tevau can change them without notice, so confirm inside the app before you commit money.

What is Tevau?
Tevau is a Visa card that spends USDT directly. You do not convert to dollars or yen first — you top up USDT, and the card works anywhere Visa is accepted, at ATMs, and inside Google Pay and Apple Pay.
The company is based in Hong Kong and launched in 2024. In August 2026 it announced that its registration as a Payment Service Provider with the Bank of Canada had been approved. It is not a Japan-, US- or EU-licensed bank, and there is no local office in most countries, so treat it as an overseas crypto service: convenient, but not covered by your home country’s deposit protection.
What types of cards does Tevau offer, and what do they cost?
As of August 2026 the app shows four cards:
- Virtual card — $20. App-only. Best for online payments and Google Pay / Apple Pay.
- Plastic card — $100. The physical card I use. Works at ATMs.
- Metal card — $199. Physical, with a far higher monthly ATM limit.
- 24K Gold card — $499. Same limits as Metal; lets you hold two virtual cards.
You can hold up to five physical cards; virtual cards are one per account (two on Gold). All cards are valid for three years.
My suggestion: start with the $20 virtual card for a month or two, then add a physical card if you use it regularly. Get Virtual Card · Get Physical Card
How do I sign up, and how long does KYC take?
- Register with an email address via the official site or a referral link.
- Install the app (iOS or Android) and log in.
- KYC: one government ID (passport, driving licence or national ID card) plus a selfie.
- Once approved, buy a card — the issue fee is paid from your USDT balance.
- Physical cards are posted to you; virtual cards are issued immediately.
My KYC was approved in under a day. Blurry document photos are the usual reason for a re-submit, so shoot them in good light.
How do I top up my Tevau card with USDT?
Open Deposit in the app to get your USDT address, then send from your exchange or wallet. Check the network shown in the app before sending — funds sent on the wrong network are not recoverable. After the deposit lands, moving it to the card balance costs 1%.
I deposit directly from my exchange or wallet to Tevau — no intermediate steps.
Where can I use my Tevau card?
Tevau cards work anywhere Visa is accepted — online or offline. Examples from my own use: Amazon, eBay, Netflix, Google Play, YouTube, 7-Eleven, McDonald’s and Booking.com.
What are Tevau card fees?
The full table, checked August 2026:
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Top-up (USDT to card balance) | 1% |
| USD-denominated payment | $0.20 + 0.5% |
| Non-USD payment (JPY, MYR, EUR and so on) | 1.2% |
| ATM withdrawal | 1.9% |
| Small pre-authorisation (e.g. $1 checks by subscriptions) | first 5 free, then $0.20 |
| Declined transaction (e.g. insufficient balance) | first 3 free, then $0.50 |
| Card closure | $2 |
| Monthly / annual fee | $0 |
If most of your spending is in a currency other than USD, budget 1.2% as your effective rate, plus whatever your exchange charges you to buy USDT in the first place.
Does Tevau have monthly fees?
No — monthly and annual fees are $0. There are two costs for not using the card:
- Inactivity fee: $3 after 90 days without any transaction, then $1 every 30 days after that, deducted from your balance.
- Virtual card auto-closure: a virtual card with no transactions for four consecutive months is closed automatically, and the $20 issue fee is not refunded.
So the one way to lose money on Tevau is to open a card and forget it. One small payment a month keeps it free.
Is Tevau safe and legitimate?
What I can verify: Hong Kong-based, operating since 2024, KYC mandatory, and a Bank of Canada PSP approval announced in August 2026. Tevau uses cold/hot wallet separation, custodial protection, a security code and data encryption. In my own use, payments have gone through and the balance has never gone missing.
That said, it is an overseas crypto service, so I follow one rule: top up what I will spend, not what I am saving.
What is it like to pay in shops and online?
- Restaurant (F&B): contactless tap worked normally. Because the bill was in Non-USD, the 1.2% non-USD fee applied — the amount in the app was exactly 1.2% above the receipt.
- Google Ads: my account bills in USD, so there was no FX fee — just the USD rate of $0.20 + 0.5%. For anyone paying for overseas SaaS or ad spend, this is the card’s sweetest spot.
- Google Pay and Apple Pay: both accepted the card. I can pay with my phone without carrying the plastic.
- Declines: I have been declined once for an insufficient balance. The first three declines are free; after that it is $0.50 each.
Does Tevau have an app?
Yes. The Tevau app is available for both iOS and Android, giving you access to your wallet, transactions, cards and settings.

Getting Started
Who can use Tevau?
Anyone above the legal age in their country with valid KYC documents can sign up and use Tevau.
Is anyone under 18 eligible for a Tevau card?
No. You must be at least 18 to apply for a Tevau card.
Who is Tevau for?
Good fit: people paid in USDT (freelancers, overseas clients, DeFi income) who want to spend it directly; people paying USD-billed SaaS or ad accounts; travellers and expats who need local cash from an ATM.
Poor fit: people whose spending is mostly domestic and rewards-driven; people who will open a card and leave it idle; anyone who needs phone support in their own language.
For me — living abroad and receiving income in USDT — it has become one of the cards I use every month. The lowest-risk way to find out if it suits you is the $20 virtual card for a month, then add plastic if it earns its place.
Cards
I applied for a virtual card and want to upgrade to a physical card. Can I pay the difference?
No. Virtual cards cannot be upgraded to physical cards — you need to apply for a physical card separately.
Is there a limit to the number of cards I can apply for?
Each account can hold up to five physical cards and one virtual card. The 24K Gold tier is the exception — it allows two virtual cards.
How long is the card valid for?
Physical and virtual cards are valid for three years. Renewal details are sent to you before the card expires.
How do I check my virtual card number, CVV and expiry date?
On the app home screen, tap Management → Card Number & CVV, then enter your security code to view the details.
What if my card is going to expire soon?
Renewal details are sent to you after expiry.
If I stop using the card, will it be closed automatically?
A virtual card is closed automatically after four consecutive months without a transaction. Physical cards are not affected.
Can a closed card be restored, and is the card fee refunded?
No. Once a card is closed it cannot be restored, so treat the decision as irreversible. The card application fee is not refunded, but any remaining balance on the card is returned to your wallet.
What happens if I lose my card?
You can freeze or disable the card directly in the app, and order a replacement from there.
My card has not arrived within 14 days. What should I do?
Check the tracking code with the logistics company first. If tracking shows nothing, there may have been a problem in shipping — contact Tevau customer support through the app.
Wallet & Top Up
Can I transfer USDT in and out of my Tevau wallet?
Yes. You can deposit and withdraw USDT using the wallet addresses provided in the app. Once you have topped up a virtual or physical card, however, that balance can only be withdrawn at an ATM or spent.
What currencies does Tevau support?
Tevau supports USDT and BTCW today, with a growing list of popular fiat currencies — USD, EUR, HKD, GBP and more — coming soon.
How fast are Tevau transactions?
Most transactions, including crypto-to-fiat conversion and card usage, are processed in real time. On a good connection, our own test from USDT to wallet to physical card top-up took under five minutes.
Can I send money to another Tevau user?
Yes. You can send funds instantly between Tevau users with no fees.
My card application succeeded, but why can I not top up?
The deposit has to reach your wallet first:
- Tap Wallet → Deposit and copy the deposit address.
- Withdraw USDT from your exchange to that address. Check the address and the network before confirming the transaction.
- Once the deposit lands, the amount appears in your wallet. Then go to Home → Top up Card to move it onto the card.
Payments & Apple Pay
Which payments can the Tevau card not be used for?
OpenAI billing is not supported. Apple Pay and Google Pay both work — the card can be added to either wallet. Beyond that, standard Visa merchant restrictions apply, and any merchant that blocks prepaid or crypto-funded cards will decline it.
Can I change the billing address or the Apple Pay phone number on my virtual card?
The billing address cannot be changed. The mobile phone number can be changed in the app settings.
ATM & Limits
Can I withdraw cash from an ATM?
Yes. I withdrew RM1,500 (about US$320) from a regular bank ATM in Malaysia. The card went in, PIN, cash out — no different from a normal debit card. The 1.9% fee was deducted from the card balance; the ATM itself may add its own operator fee depending on the bank and country.
Limits matter more than the fee here. A plastic or virtual card is capped at $3,000 per day and $10,000 per month at ATMs. If you need more cash than that, look at Metal or Gold.
What are the Tevau card limits?
Limits depend on the card’s BIN (the first digits of the card number), which splits the cards into two groups:
| Virtual & Plastic | Metal & 24K Gold | |
|---|---|---|
| ATM per day | $3,000 | $3,750 |
| ATM per month | $10,000 | $112,500 |
| Single payment | $3,000,000 | $80,000 |
| Monthly payments | $3,000,000 | $3,000,000 |
Note that Metal and Gold are not simply “better”: their monthly ATM limit is eleven times higher, but their single-payment limit is much lower. If you need cash, go Metal or Gold; if you want to make one very large payment, Plastic is actually the better fit.
Fees & Tax
Is there a tax on using the Tevau card?
I am not a tax adviser, so treat this as orientation, not advice. In most countries, including Japan, spending crypto is treated as disposing of it at that moment. Each card payment is effectively a sale of that much USDT, and the difference between what you paid for the USDT (in your local currency) and its value when you spent it is a taxable gain or loss. USDT itself barely moves against the dollar, but your local currency does — so the gain is mostly the USD exchange-rate movement between buying and spending.
Practical steps that make this manageable:
- Keep your exchange’s transaction history (acquisition date and price of each USDT purchase).
- Export your Tevau transaction history at year end.
- Check your country’s reporting threshold and whether crypto gains fall under a specific income category (in Japan, for example, they are generally treated as miscellaneous income).
ATM withdrawals count the same way — you have sold USDT for cash. Tevau itself does not charge any additional tax on card transactions.
Is there any discount?
Yes. There are periodic promotions on the cards, including a rebate for successful physical-card applications. Join the Telegram community group and our X.com channel for the latest promotion updates.
Security & Account
Is my crypto insured on Tevau?
Crypto assets are stored with licensed custodians offering high-grade protection, though specific insurance coverage may vary by jurisdiction.
If my account is frozen, what should I do?
Contact customer support. The account must be re-verified by you personally — KYC cannot be completed by anyone else on your behalf.
What should I do if my card has been stolen or the details leaked?
Lock the card immediately in the app, then close it as soon as you can.
About Tevau
What makes Tevau different from traditional banks?
Tevau offers instant global spending, real-time crypto-to-fiat conversion, and advanced technology with minimal fees — all from a single app.
Is Tevau a bank?
No, Tevau is a fintech platform. While it offers banking-like features, it operates using digital infrastructure with regulated custodians.
Which country is Tevau from?
Tevau is headquartered in Hong Kong and was founded in 2024. It operates as a global crypto financial platform, and the card is available in 200+ countries, accepted at 80M+ merchants and ATMs worldwide.
What are the downsides of Tevau?
- 1.2% on non-USD payments is not cheap. It is below the 1.6–2.2% many bank cards charge abroad, but a domestic cashback card will beat it for everyday local spending. Tevau’s advantage is spending USDT directly, not rewards.
- $10,000/month ATM cap on Plastic is tight for some people.
- Inactivity fees and virtual-card closure punish “open and forget”.
- Support starts with a bot. Ask for a live agent explicitly and you will be handed to a human; during business hours the human replies quickly. Write in English for the fastest result.
- It is not regulated in your home country. Keep only what you plan to spend on the card rather than treating it as a savings account.
How do I contact support if I have an issue?
We are an affiliate site, not Tevau. Tevau’s support is the in-app chat: it starts with a bot, but if you ask for a live agent you are handed to a human, and during business hours replies are quick. Write in English for the fastest response. You can also email Tevau or use the official website’s support portal, and bring any concern to the Telegram community group.
Still need help?
Tevau’s own team handles account and card support. Start in the app chat, or ask the community — someone has usually hit the same thing.
Ready to get your Tevau card?
Start with the $20 virtual card, or go straight to plastic. Applying takes a few minutes once KYC is done.
